Day 51: Taping and Bricking has Begun

OPINION REQUESTED: My spouse and I were really worried about our brick selection.  It's really hard to make a selection from those little samples and this was a new brick to our community.  There weren't any houses built with it yet.  So we've been stressing out over it.  We wanted something different than the Traditional Red (which we both like but wanted something different).

What are your thoughts?  We can take it, be honest...please!

The Taping and Mudding crew arrived today and didn't waste anytime.  They've got quite a bit done already.  The mud isn't drying fast enough to allow them to apply their second and third coats due to humidity but they still haven't covered nail holes yet.  The PM said they will not be done until late next week. Arrggg....

They sheet rock crew forgot to cut out our air return in our bedroom, the microwave vent and one of our thermostats in tour basement.  The PM is aware and has for action.  This is really just a reminder for me to follow up.

The masons finally showed up.  Not bright and early but showed up none the less (not until after 2pm at least and put in a whopping 4 hours of work before calling it Dos Equis time).  They said they were not sure if they were going to work the weekend.  I hope they do because it is supposed to rain Monday.

This is Sugar Creek

  1. Looking good! Things really start to come together at this point. I saw you mentioned an air return vent that they failed to cut out in the bathroom. I was always told the two places you never pull return air from are kitchens and bathrooms (odors).

Like the brick! I think it will look great when it's all done.

    1. The address stone is usually an option but its a community feature in our community. We were really happy about that because its normally like a $250 option.

  3. Love the brick! Looks almost identical to my savannah grey! So I guess you could say I'm partial to this color lol

  4. Absolutely love your house and the wide open spaces. I think, out of the dozens of blogs we are following this Highgrove has to be the largest. We were just looking at the pictures today, and the fantastic wrap-around brick and thought, "my God, this thing is castle like!" Love your community as well and the 23 acres of green space. Thanks for all the pictures.

  6. I love the brick too. It was the color we were going to choose if we did brick instead of stone. The brick will never change but with that color you can do any shutter and door color and it will be timeless.
